Favorite albums of 2025

It's the time of the year, to share my top 5 favorite albums of 2025, meaning, only albums released in 2025.

You can see my top 5 of 2024 here.

1 - Apple of my eye - NEMOPHILA

Like I said on my short review of Apple of my eye, this is my "least favorite" NEMOPHILA album. But it's far from being a bad album, and that's why it's my favorite album of the year.

After watching NEMOPHILA live for the second time earlier this year in Hiroshima, I got the chance to hear (and see) a live performance of the whole album, and it blew me away, I guess some of the songs were made for live performances.

2 - Skeletá - Ghost

Ah, Ghost... always reinventing the wheel by copying the past. I like Skeletá better than the previous work of Ghost; Impera.

De Profundis Borealis is my favorite track!

3 - Dissonance Theory - Coroner

I used to listen to Coroner back in 2012, and when I saw on Kevy Metal's blog that Coroner was releasing a new album after 32 years, I was quite surprised!

Solid work!

4 - Season II - SEIKIMA-II

Not as metal as some of SEIKIMA-II previous works, but still a great album! Some songs really get stuck in my head like "Rougai Rock" and "Queen Rouge".

More than 40 years on the road and still producing top notch music!

5 - Live from Auditorio Nacional, CDMX - The Warning

Closing up my top 5 of 2025, The Warning!

Really great sound mix for a live performance, it's packed with 25 The Warning hits! ERROR on this album is fantastic! You can feel the raw emotion of Dany on the vocals, really good stuff!

Honorable mentions

In not particular order, these albums didn't make the cut of my favorites of 2025, but still good albums!

Team NEKO - Marco Minnemann

Released earlier this month, it features KOTONO (ex-KOIAI vocalist) and damn this album surprised me more than I expected.

You can buy it/listen on Bandcamp.

METAL FORTH - BABYMETAL

I'm not a big fan of BABYMETAL's latest collabs, I much rather if they would release a full album of their own work, but anyways.

White Flame is amazing, and that's why I'm featuring METAL FORTH here.
